Do we really want our schools to return to "normal?"

Today in the world of education—even in the frantic attempts by schools to adjust the delivery of instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic—just about everything we see, hear, and do has to do with students’ preparing for and taking THE TEST. That’s not only the high-stakes, standardized tests students take at the end of each school year, but all those tests taken throughout the year to get them ready for the big one.

No matter if it's distance learning or in-person learning, curriculum is still geared to THE TEST. Teachers teach to THE TEST. Products and services sold to schools promise to help students score as high as possible on THE TEST. School districts are required to publish results of THE TEST that only result in school shaming, for “underperforming” schools.

This is A PERVERSION OF PURPOSE!

We need to improve the scope, depth, and quality of what children learn. In the process, we can save tens of billions of dollars each and every year on relatively ineffective instructional materials and so-called professional development for teachers.

The solution is a nonprofit project: Masterpieces of Learning.

Masterpieces of Learning will ARTISTICALLY ORCHESTRATE the talents and expertise of thousands of people representing a variety of content areas worldwide. Its goal is to develop an unparalleled program for elementary education.

Schools will no longer need to separately purchase a new math program, a new reading program, a new social studies program, a new reading program, a new writing program, or a new science program every five or six years.
